Sirges Báidi 2–12 years is the children’s version of the Sirges sweater from my book Sápmi Strikk 2.

To preserve as much of the beautiful pattern as possible in the children’s version, I chose to knit the sweater in a finer yarn than the adult version featured in the book. I chose Sunday from Sandnes Garn, a soft, non-itchy yarn that is perfect for sensitive children’s skin.

2.5 mm and 3 mm circular needles, 40, 60 and 80 cm

Construction: Sirges – Children’s Sweater is worked from the bottom up with a yoke shaped with raglan decreases.

Fit: The body and sleeve lengths can be adjusted as desired.

Technique: The sweater is worked in the round in stockinette stitch and stranded colorwork.
