Beaivi Mohair is a soft and elegant version of the popular Beaivi sweater from my book Sápmi Strikk.

Among the Sámi gods, the sun god Beaivi was the central force. In the Beaivi design, you will find the Sámi sun symbol; the life-giving power of nature, represented through the cloudberry flower motif.

Yarn: Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair by Sandnes Garn (one strand of each held together)

Gauge: 22 stitches = 10 cm / 4 inches

Recommended needles: 3.5 mm / US 4

Circular needles in 100, 80 and 40 cm, as well as double-pointed needles for the sleeves (or a 100 cm circular needle for Magic Loop).

Note: The Deep Wine Red color shown in the photos has been discontinued. The pattern therefore uses Deep Burgundy, which is the closest available color. It may appear slightly darker than the sweater shown in the photos.
About the recipe

Construction: The sweater is worked from the top down with circular increases.

Fit: Beaivi Mohair can be knitted with either a cropped or regular body, and the length can be adjusted as desired.

Technique: The sweater is worked in the round in stockinette stitch and stranded colorwork.
