According to the Sami creation story, Gabba, the white reindeer, was called down from heaven by the god Ipmil on the rays of the sun god Beaivi. Ipmil then used the animal's body parts to create a new and better world. It is said that the reindeer owner who has many white reindeer in their herd is blessed, as the white animals have a strong connection with the spirit world.
