According to the Sami creation story, Gabba, the White Reindeer, was called down from the heavens by the god Ipmil on the rays of the sun god Beaivi. Ipmil then used the reindeer's body to create a new and better world. It is said that a reindeer herder who has many white reindeer in the herd is blessed, as the white animals have a strong connection to the spirit world.
Gabba is worked from the bottom up with a circular yoke.
