Gárasavvon is a colorful sweater with a pattern inspired by traditional Sámi mittens
from Sweden's northernmost settlement, Karesuando.
Small-patterned mittens with borders or bands are common in several places in Sápmi, and
these borders are often found in the local weaving tradition.
The Karesuando mitten is distinctive with its pattern repeats that appear at regular
intervals across the entire mitten, and it is often knitted with a red base color and otherwise
with blue, yellow, and green, colors often found in Sámi duodji.
