Nanna is knitted bottom-up. The sweater’s yoke is knitted in the round, with steek stitches for armholes and neckline. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up along the armhole openings after they have been sewn and cut open.
Nanna has a spacious, oversized fit with wide sleeves and body.
Nanna features a pattern from a pair of Porsanger mittens knitted by Nanna Guttorm in the 1960s.
Nanna Guttorm was a Kven born and raised in Ildskog, Porsanger. She was a skilled craftswoman in all areas of sewing, weaving, and knitting, and many people from Porsanger wore gáktis made by the talented gákti seamstress.
